florian lechner

For the 34th Open Art Florian Lechner (*1981) can be seen for the first time in a solo exhibition at SMUDAJESCHECK. His subject is space as well as the properties of plastic and sculpture, which he investigates. Lechner creates figures or pictorial spaces virtually on the computer or layers material on scanners to capture them. This source material is then printed, cut, collaged and condensed.

At Open Art we will show his extremely deceptively spatial CGI (Computer Generated Images ) photo prints directly on aluminum as well as his clippings, sculptures reminiscent of cosmic rock, produced in a 3D printer in a complex printing process. As “Surprise du Chef” we exhibit Florian Lechners newly developed sound sculptures, for the first time publicly.

Florian Lechner’s works exist only in the moment of their perception by the recipient. They are detached from their specific physical state and, as stagings of baroque excess and complexity, subvert the boundaries of image and sculpture, thus renegotiating space as virtual sculptures. Florian Lechner is shown in renowned institutions. His works are represented in public and private collections.
