Dr. Till Richter im Gespräch mit Minor Alexander
SMUDAJESCHECK zeigt erstmals MINOR ALEXANDER, einen jungen Berliner Künstler mit ukrainischen Wurzeln. Die Besonderheit dieser Ausstellung ist die freie Hand — carte blanche — für den Künstler gemeinsam mit dem Kurator und Sammler Dr. Till Richter. »Ich verlasse mich komplett auf die Kreativität und Expertise meiner Projektpartner«, sagt Charlotte Smuda-Jescheck. »Was dabei herauskommt, sehen wir bei der Eröffnung«.

»In seiner Ausstellung „BLOOM — I Love Nature and Nature Loves me“ zeigt der ukrainisch-deutsche Künstler Minor Alexander (*1981, lebt und arbeitet in Berlin) neueste Arbeiten aus verschiedenen Werkgruppen. Diese sind größtenteils ausgeführt in der ihm eigenen Velvet-Technik.
Es geht um die Verquickung seiner Liebe zur Natur und seiner Liebe zur Kunst bzw. zur Kunstgeschichte aber auch zur Zeitgeschichte.
Der Flock, eine samtartige Oberfläche, schillert in allen Tönen des Regenbogens und wirkt wie Moos auf einem Baum oder einem Stein. Wie ein Pilz breitet er sich aus; nichts ist vor ihm sicher. Wir finden ihn auf Bäumen, auf Gips und auf Leinwänden. Dabei erweist er seine appropriationistische Reverenz an die Kunstgeschichte, seien es skulpturale Anklänge an Brancusi oder Carl André oder konzeptionelle Bezüge zum Einsatz von Text und Schrift in der Auseinandersetzung mit Nauman, Kruger oder Holzer. Das beinhaltet natürlich auch gesellschaftskritische und selbstkritische Elemente, ohne aktivistisch oder vorwurfsvoll zu werden. Die Ästhetik und Haptik von Minor Alexanders Kunst ist ebenso essentiell wie einzigartig und verführt zum Hinsehen und zum (vorsichtigen) Anfassen.«
Der Kurator Dr. Till Richter hat an der Sorbonne in Paris und der University of Texas at Austin Kunstgeschichte studiert und ist Experte für die Bewertung zeitgenössischer Kunst.
Er sammelt selbst seit mehr als 30 Jahren und hat im Jahr 2012 ein eigenes Museum im Schloss Buggenhagen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, gegründet, um die vielversprechendsten jungen Künstlerinnen und Künstler zu fördern.

SMUDAJESCHECK shows for the first time MINOR ALEXANDER, a young Berlin artist with Ukrainian roots. The special feature of this exhibition is the free hand — carte blanche — for the artist together with the curator and collector Dr. Till Richter. “I rely completely on the creativity and expertise of my project partners,” says Charlotte Smuda-Jescheck, “What comes out of it, we will see at the opening.”
This is what Till Richter has revealed to us:
“In his exhibition “BLOOM — I Love Nature and Nature Loves me” the Ukrainian-German artist Minor Alexander (*1981, lives and works in Berlin) shows latest works from different groups of works. These are mostly executed in his own Velvet technique.
It is about the fusion of his love for nature and his love for art or art history but also for contemporary history.
The flock, a velvety surface, shimmers in all the tones of the rainbow and looks like moss on a tree or a stone. It spreads like a fungus; nothing is safe from it. We find it on trees, on plaster and on canvases. In the process, he offers his appropriationist reverence to art history, be it sculptural echoes of Brancusi or Carl André or conceptual references to the use of text and writing in the confrontation with Nauman, Kruger or Holzer. Of course, this also includes socio-critical and self-critical elements without becoming activist or reproachful. The aesthetics and feel of Minor Alexander’s art is as essential as it is unique, enticing you to look and (cautiously) touch.”
Curator Dr. Till Richter studied art history at the Sorbonne in Paris and the University of Texas at Austin and is an expert in the evaluation of contemporary art.
He has been collecting himself for more than 30 years and in 2012 founded his own museum in Buggenhagen Castle, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, to promote the most promising young artists.
